Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is used to fulfil the obligations of the Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974 and The Electricity at Work Regulations, 1989.

The Electricity at Work Regulations, 1989 place a duty on all Industrial and Commercial Businesses (including Landlords, Letting Agents, Self-employed and sole-traders, etc.) to prevent harm coming to their employees, customers and tenants when using electrical equipment provided for their use.

If your working environment or property has any appliances with a mains voltage plug attached there is a duty to comply with the necessary regulations.

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is the best way to fulfil these obligations.

Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974
The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 is all-embracing, requiring all those concerned with an undertaking to do all that is reasonable to ensure the health and safety not only of persons directly employed, but other persons who may be associated with the work undertaken by the business. The requirements of the Act are general and widely applicable.

The Electricity at Work Regulations, 1989
The purpose of the Electricity at Work Regulations, 1989 is to prevent death or injury to anyone from any electrical cause as a result of, or in connection with, work activities.

Equipment Tags
